Visual Search

Visual Search is a set of software utilities that allow the user to find video and image files, using their content. It includes video search, image search and face search (face recognition). For example, you can select a clip that contains a part of a movie and find a full video, regardless of its actual location, filename, resolution or encoding. It is also possible to specify a sample picture, lets say a photograph of a lake, and find other graphical files with similar visual appearance (color balance) that displays water or the sky. Another major feature is ability to detect and recognize facial images: you can specify a photograph with a face, choose a folder with 10000 portrait images and find other pictures of the same person. These utilities are also good for grouping duplicates or modified versions of the original photograph (video). These can be cropped versions, modified or distorted copies and screen copies (for a movie). The algorithms allow extracting only meaningful information, while skipping noise and even minor artificial changes. The interfaces are very simple and straightforward. All tools have a common interface and similar usage scenario. Visual image and face search supports all known picture formats and many RAWs. Video search supports AVI.
