Fortune Cookies is a little application developed by Catfood Software which performs a single task: displaying a quote or joke on your desktop as if you were eating a Chinese fortune cookie, each time you log in to Windows or run Fortune Cookies. Besides, when a quote is on your desktop you can click on the grey area of the dialog to display another quote without the need of closing and running the application again.
These quotes and jokes are taken from a database containing 4.000 phrases, so it's not likely that you read them all any soon. These 4.000 different quotes and jokes are displayed randomly.
If you think 4.000 phrases is not enough, Fortune Cookies allows adding new ones or editing the existing ones to the registered users. This required registration is totally free, it'll only cost you a few minutes of your time. Once registered, you'll be able to access the Settings dialog from which you can add, edit and remove items.
The dialog box in which the quote is displayed shows one button and two links. The button says "OK" and it will close the dialog box. The links are: Catfood, to launch a web browser at the Catfood web site; Register/Settings, depending on your registration state. Register for unregistered users and Settings for registered users.
