FlacSquisher Download

Downloading FlacSquisher 1.0

FlacSquisher is a simple open-source audio conversion tool that not only transforms your FLAC files into MP3 or Ogg Vorbis audio files, but also mirrors whatever folder and subfolder structure there is in the FLAC directory. You can customize the level of quality that both the LAME and the Ogg Vorbis encoders will apply to your FLAC files.

The audio conversion capabilities provided by FlacSquisher are not what makes this tool different from other audio converters. In fact, two out of the only three audio codecs supported are not among the most popular ones, either (FLAC and Ogg Vorbis). To top it all off, its main interface and dialog boxes simply follow the standard Windows appearance scheme. What makes this open-source project really attractive is the fact that it is capable of cloning in the output folder any subfolder structure present in the designated input folder (or FLAC folder, according to the program). This means that you can convert your entire FLAC collection in just one go without losing whatever folder structure you had applied to it. Thus, if you happen to have a different folder for each CD, each folder containing their FLAC files corresponding to that album, the same folder structure will be replicated in the output path selected, each folder containing just the right audio files and in the output format selected. When it comes to the non-FLAC files that those folders may contain (LOG, CUE, M3U, or JPEG files, for instance), you can tell FlacSquisher which extensions to copy and which to ignore, so that none of the files you also want to go with your Ogg or MP3 music is left behind.

FlacSquisher can be defined as a hybrid between audio converter and file manager. Actually, this cute free tool gives you the best of both worlds.
