zFlick Download

Downloading zFlick 1.2

zFlick is an image viewer that works with the Flickr service. The application is based on Adobe AIR framework, which makes the application compatible with Windows, Mac OS X and Linux computers. zFlick's main window is a search field which allows you to start looking for pictures. By typing a few keywords, you get a bunch of results which start adding up beneath the application's search field. There is a nice transition effect when this happens. However, it usually takes a while for pictures to take their places in this mini-preview grid.

If you move your mouse over snapshots, you will see a bigger picture for each of the snapshots. If you click on a picture, a small version of the photo will come up and replace the preview grid. If you want to save a picture, simply drag the picture to the desktop. You can only do this with the open picture and not the little previews. Also, you are not given the opportunity to choose from different sizes. You can only save small pictures. So, I would say that if you only need to browse through lots of pictures and you do not need to get a sense of detail in the pictures, zFlick will do the trick. But if you want to download lots of pictures of different sizes, or want an application that can be snappy at that, then I am afraid zFlick still is no contender.
