MHGS AviTools is a free set comprised of two very different utilities that have the AVI video codec in common. AVI Builder creates simple slideshows by combining JPEG and BMP image files according to your viewing preferences, while AVI Recorder (or AviRec) records your desktop activity and saves it as an AVI video file. Both tools can be easily used and enjoyed by all types of users, thanks to their simple interfaces and a limited set of features.

AVI Builder lets you select any number of JPG and bitmap image files, combine them in the order of your choice, and build an attractive slideshow for you to enjoy and share. There are some settings here that you can adapt to your preferences, such as the number of milliseconds assigned to each photograph, the background color of the screen, the position of the images, their size and aspect ratio, their level of quality, etc.

As for AVI Recorder, it comes in an even simpler interface. Useful for tutorials and demo video clips, AviRec lets you capture whatever happens in your screen or in a specific area of your desktop. So the first thing you need to decide is if you want the program to make a recording of the whole screen, of a window, or of a specific rectangle-shaped area of your desktop. Then you can set the frame time for both the record and the playback functions, and decide whether the cursor will appear in the video or not, and if the AVI file needs to be further compressed or not.

Either way, and even when using the most restrictive values, the output quality of the AVI files created using these tools is always of a high standard.
