Folder Size Explorer Extension Download

Downloading Folder Size Explorer Extension 2.4

Folder Size Explorer Extension adds a new column to the Details view in Windows Explorer. The new column shows not only the size of files, but also the size of folders. It gives you the chance to keep track of which folders you view, and scans them in the background so you can see complete size of all files within the folder. It's very useful for cleaning up your disk. Once you get used to having that information available, a directory listing simply looks incomplete without it! Installation: · Download and run the MSI installer. This will make the column available to Explorer, but you'll need to manually choose to display it. · In Details view, right click on the column headers to see a list of available columns. · The recommended settings are to turn on Folder Size, turn off Size, and then drag the Folder Size column to where Size usually is. · Now go to the Folder Options dialog (in the Tools menu), View tab, and click Apply to All Folders. Now you'll see Folder Sizes for all your folders! Here are some key features of "Folder Size Explorer Extension": · Each folder object in the tree can be located with a hash table, using the path as a hash. When notifications that specify a folder come from the system, the folder object can be quickly located. · Background folder scanning is done in a lower-priority thread, so it should have minimal impact on general disk performance. · Folders are scanned in a recursive round-robin order, fairly updating viewed folders. The subfolder containing the smallest number of subfolders will complete scanning first, resulting in more clean folders available faster. · The last requested folder is always scanned before any previously requested folders. When "drilling down" into your folders, the scanner will narrow its search tree as you enter each subfolder. · When a folder is marked dirty, it is not scanned immediately. This would result in disk thrashing for frequently changed folders. The scan is delayed until the user requests the data, and then the scanner retrieves dirty data in the scanned folder. · When a folder size is requested, the cache tries to do an immediate clean. If there are a very small number of dirty folders, they are scanned immediately and then returned to the system. This way, the user sees more clean data and less dirty data. The threshold number of folders is configurable on the Performance slider.
