Auralia is an ear training tool used for improving the musicianship skills and training aural awareness. The application is made for all ages and music skills, and is largely used in education at worldwide level. The built-in tests are very simple to use and set. It also has all the necessary options for classes and courses management, keeping a full record of each student's progress.
Auralia's interface is well designed and very user friendly. It has 41 Ear Training topics divided into five groups: Intervals and Scales, Chords, Rhythm, Harmony and Form, and Pitch and Melody.
Intervals and Scales range from simple interval comparison to jazz scale singing. The Interval comparison is a series of exercises, where students are asked to determine which interval is larger or smaller. The easy level is a good way to test anyone's musical hearing. These tests are also spread in the rest of the sections, for each topic.
Chords section covers cords recognition, chords singing, cluster chords, and chords used for jazz genre.
The Rhythm topic deals with notes reading, pulse, or meter recognition.
Harmony and Form section is about harmonic and musical forms recognition, as cadences, chord progressions, and jazz forms.
Pitch and Melody teaches the recognition of individual notes and melodic lines.
The application runs on Mac OS X 10 and Windows X, Vista, and 7 operating systems.
