Ratings in WMP are described with a number from 0 to 100.
WMP AutoRate does the rating like that :
-1 point : when you "zap" a file by clicking the next or the prec button
1 point : when you listen a file completelly (from start to end)
You want to skip a playing file without damaging its rating ?
You could disable the plug-in in the WMP menu, OR, simply, browse your playing file until the last seconds and go on
