Simple AIML Editor was created by an AIML user that had previously managed AIML sets in Excel.
Excel, however, is not an easy XML manager and there were issues with character limitations in cells, among other things.
The desire was to have a simple application that would reliable read in AIML, write out AIML and allow the user to search and edit AIML categories similar to how one might do it in a real spreadsheet.
