Daycare Nightmare is about a young lady who works at a bakery and coffee shop, and ends up accidentally being the babysitter of baby monsters. The monster part is literally! Our babysitter has to take care of actual baby monsters because she have found out that there are monsters with a human look walking around. The monster she saw said that she couldn’t tell about them and was ready to eat her (again, literally) when she came up with an idea: she would be the babysitter of the baby monster while the monster mom attends to the office. They made a deal and there is where the game begins. Needless to say, you will be the babysitter.
The happy meter fills when your babies are happy, and empties when they are upset. Happiness must be above the red arrows at the end of the day for you to succeed onto the next level. Parents pick up and drop off their babies at the door. Click the door to receive them or hand them off. If babies are happy when you return them to their parents, you will receive a bigger tip. Baby needs to go in a specific cycle. Anticipate the next need of a baby to fulfill it faster. If a baby completes a cycle of needs without losing happiness it will earn a halo. Halos provide a bonus to tips and happiness. You can increase the bonus by completing further cycles of needs without the baby losing happiness. Different halo colors means different multiplying values: Yellow x2, Red x3, Blue x4 and Purple x5.
The main actions you have to take are the following. When a baby gets tired place him in a crib for a nap. Put hungry babies in a high chair to be fed. After a fight, both babies need band-aids. Take the baby to a first aid station to fix their boo boo, or keep a band-aid on hand for emergencies. Place bored babies on a playmat to keep them entertained. When a baby wets itself take it to a changing table to change it, or keep a diaper on hand for emergencies. Place babies on the carpet to increase their happiness over time. While on the carpet babies may fight or play with each other.
When you enter the game, you’ll see the welcome screen with the following options:
- Change Player: the first time there’s no existing player. After you create one or more, they’ll be saved. When you enter into this submenu, you’ll be asked for a name as a new player. It’s possible to have a list of different players and record their performance. This way, you can play home tournaments with family and friends.
- Play: this option leads you to the comic-style introduction to the game. When it’s done you’ll start playing the first level.
- Endless day: to play as long as you can, without levels or background story.
- Options: this is the menu from which you can set some game options like: sound effects volume, music volume, fever volume, 3D acceleration, colorblind mode, custom cursors, and full screen (on/off). You can also access help information from here.
- Help: it shows some help information and the rules to play the game.
- High Scores and Exit: no further explanation required.
Once you are playing, you can press the MENU button on the screen to pause the game, go to the options menu, get back to the game, access help information, or save the game and go back to the main menu.
