"Copy As URL" adds a command to the Windows Explorer context menu. Once it's installed, your system will display a new command, Copy As URL, when you press the right key of your mouse pointing at a file or folder. If you choose this command, the program will copy a URL link to that file or folder into your clipboard. Then, you can paste that link (that will look like "file:///C:/Path/file.txt") into a text file, a Word document or a web page.
By clicking on that link, you will be able to access the exact file on your local disk. If you paste the created link in your web browser, it will display the file that you selected (if the file is an image) or will ask you what to do with the file. You will be able to select to open the file with Windows Media Player (or the program that you want to use), or to "download" the file.
This program can be very useful if you want to create direct access to files or folders on a CD or DVD, or an HTML file that can access exactly the file you want when you click on the right link.
