Overlook Fing is a command-line tool that will discover your network and services. It does not have a fancy interface, but it properly detects all your network devices and the services they are running.
When you launch it, it will open up a command window, and will begin to ask you questions about the type of search you want the program to perform. You can specify whether you want to discover, scan, ping, or display the network information. Then, you will need to choose the network to be monitored (if more than one is detected), how many scanning rounds you will perform, if you want to discover domain names, and the type of output you require and where to save it. The program will then tell you the exact command that you need to enter at the DOS prompt, and then will perform the tasks requested, and will produce the required output.
Overlook Fing can discover any Ethernet-based network with no errors. The Windows version works flawlessly in Windows Vista and Windows 7. There are Linux and Mac versions available.
