Opanda PowerExif Standard is an EXIF reader that extracts all metadata embedded in JPEG images and transforms them into editable fields. Besides, it allows you to create your own set of new EXIF data, so that you can then attach them to the image they refer to. Data can also be exported into an XML, TXT, or EXIF file.
The idea behind this tool is to let you play around with your EXIF data in any way you wish. Some EXIF fields are not always properly filled in by the digital camera you used, or not filled in at all. It is not always the camera’s fault, as it has no way of knowing, for instance, the name of the photographer, or if the scene captured represents a portrait or a sunset. These data, which have clear value when it comes to organizing and cataloging large collections, can be easily added to the existing data collected by the camera. When the same data needs to be imported into various images, PowerExif allows you to use EXIF templates, saving you from typing the same information again and again.
The most useful feature is the possibility of creating your own set of data even when no image is present. This is particularly important when you wish to add this valuable information to images that where created with cameras or other equipment with no EXIF support. Think, for instance, how interesting it is to have the possibility of adding EXIF information to your scanned old negatives!
The application comes with a clear and well-organized interface. The editing of the data has been designed in a way that allows you select closed values from pull-down menus, whenever possible, making it easier for you and keeping you data free from spelling mistakes.
