RSJ HD Image is a comprehensive tool to back up your hard drive with ease and restore it in a brand new hard drive if necessary. Developed by RSJ Software, a trial version is available for download, although with some restrictions - you cannot use the "Unattended image creation" option, nor its logical "Unattended restore" companion. You can only do backups to a CD/DVD, and you will have to re-activate the product every 30 days. It is a shame, because it would be really great to take a look at the unattended functions and see how good and independent they really are.
You can only back up partitions that have a drive letter assigned to them, which means that the other hard drive partitions will not even appear in the program's dialog. The time it will take to create the disc image will logically depend on the size of the partition, your disk drive, and your processor's speed. Saving the image right onto the computer instead of using a CD would speed things up.
The package comes with three modules: RSJ HD Image Creator, RSJ HD Image Mounter, and RSJ HD Image Restore. The first one will create the image of the selected partition, while the second will make it possible to assign a drive letter to an image in a disc or hard drive, and the third one will restore the data saved in the image into its original form. All in all, this is a complete software package to do all that is required when it comes to backing up your PC!
