There are files on your system that you use a lot; they are read and written to often. In order to speed up access to these files and enhance your system performance you need to defrag your drive. With today's large drives this can take hours.

Because defragging takes so long, I find that I often don't have an opportunity to do it. I have a laptop and when I'm done working, I put it into hibernation and then head home. Sometimes I turn it back on when I get home, but I rarely keep it on all night.
